The Vanquish was developed in the wake of a GT concept car, better known as the Project Vantage concept car. Available in either a two or two plus two seat coupe, the V12 Vanquish has the power of accelerating to 60 mph in under 4.5 seconds and 100 mph in approx 10 seconds.
The Vanquish V12 engine shares some components and design elements with the 3.0L Duratec 30 V6. The engine was designed at Ford research in the USA. As the engine shares the same bore and stroke dimensions, it is found people incorrectly dismissing Aston Martin V12 as merely ‘two Duratecs linked together’.
The standard Vanquish model comes with 355 mm and ventilated disc brakes with Abs, electronic brake distribution while the Vanquish S featured larger 378 mm front and 330 mm rear motors. In addition, with the electronic drive by wire throttle system, Aston Martin engage F1 style paddles that enables gradual gear changes to be performed less than a blink of eye.
